Mari has performed around the world, from London’s Wigmore Hall and South Bank Centre to Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Oman. Most recently, Mari has performed together with other international musicians at the Naas’s Moat Theatre in September 2023.
Her repertoire is extensive and ranges from early Baroque to contemporary composers. She is especially active in the field of contemporary music and enjoys collaborations with composers and artists from across the world. She has worked closely with several composers including Howard Skempton, Martin Butler, Mark-Anthony Turnage, and Gyorgy Kurtag.
Born in Hong Kong and brought up in Japan and Singapore, Mari started playing the piano at the age of five. She graduated from the Chetham’s School of Music, Royal College of Music and Royal Academy of Music and has studied under some of the UK’s pre-eminent pianists included Bernard Roberts, John Blakely, Ronan O’Hora, Valeria Szervansky and Joanna MacGregor CBE.
Mari has been living in numerous countries around the world and in 2021 she moved to Ireland with her Irish husband and 2 boys.
When she is not playing or teaching, Mari enjoys cooking, reading, running, interior design, travelling and walking her dog!
